The Provost Yobe State College of Health Sciences and Technology (Nguru), Dr Hamisu Maimusa, has commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for supporting the college which was offering only two programmes to 12 in just three years.
This was contained in a statement by the Director General (DG), Press and Media Affairs to the governor,Mamman Mohammed who quoted the Provost making the commendation at a ceremony held for students at the College.
He said, that, Governor Buni provided the required environment, equipment and resources for accreditation of the programmes.
He said the programmes being offered by the College include; Community Health extension (Diploma), Community Health extension (certificate), Public Health, Environmental Health, Food Hygiene, Health Education and Promotion, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory, Dental Surgery, Health Information Management, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Environmental Health Technicians.
He said, “We now have substantial equipment, chemicals and reagents in our Medical laboratory, Medical Records, Dental Health laboratory and Community Health laboratory among others.
“The Buni administration also procured a microtome machine worth N27 million, sets of Dental equipment and pharmaceutical machines among others to facilitate teaching and research in the college”.
Dr Maimusa also commended Governor Buni for absorbing 196 graduands of the College to provide services at the newly established Primary Health Centres across the state.
