Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state says wheat and rice farmers in the state will continue to receive desired support from the government for wet and dry season.
Gov. Bagudu affirmed this while playing host to members of Gendi-Gendi Rice Farmers Association, Birnin Kebbi who were at the Kebbi Government House to solicit for material support to embark on dry-season farming.
Bagudu welcomed the action by the association to approach the Government for help.
He announced that, very soon the State government would begin disbursement of necessary assistance to farmers affected by recent flooding in the state including provision of agricultural input.
The governor reechoed his advice to youth and farmers to always approach the state government for support through groups and associations for easy accessibility.
Earlier, the leader of the association, Alhaji Dan-Alhaji said, members of the group have taken up farming diligently cultivating wheat and rice fields away from political thuggery.
Alhaji Dan Alhaji on behalf of the group and youth requested the governor to assist farmers with fertilizer, water-pumping machine, pesticides, herbicides, and other agricultural implements at subsidized rate to maximizing production.
The chairman commended Governor Bagudu for his encouragement, support and good counselling which motivated them to embark on production of rice and other crops, assuring him of their unflinching support to his administration.
