BY NAJIB SANI, GOMBE
As part of efforts to enhance efficiency in local government administration, the Gombe State Ministry for Local Governments and Community Development in partnership with Prime Tech Solutions Industries, has organised a three-day training to local governments officials drawn from the 11 councils of the state on local government reforms.
The workshop was attended by all social development officers, staff officers, heads of education, agriculture, and works departments of local government councils in Gombe State.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the training, the Gombe State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs and Community Development, Abdulkadir Waziri, explained that the initiative aims to strengthen local governance at the grassroots.
According to him, local governments are crucial in sustainable development and empowerment of people at the grassroots hence the state government decided to revitalise them via reforms and training to improve service delivery.
“By investing in capacity building, Gombe State aims to restore the lost glory of civil service under Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya’s administration which aligns with the state’s vision for sustainable development and improved service delivery,” he stated.
In his remarks, the Chief Consultant of Prime Tech Solutions Industries, Professor Mansur Malumfashi, emphasised the significant role of local government officials in national progress, highlighting the need for them to stay informed on current developments, particularly in technology.
He encouraged the participants to make the best of the training to deepen their expertise in order to operate more effectively and efficiently.
