Police in Gombe State have arrested several suspects over alleged armed robbery, theft and participating in Kalare activities in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Gombe State Police Command’s Spokesperson, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar on Friday.
According to the statement, the suspected criminals were arrested at various times and parts of the state metropolis and elsewhere.
It informed that, five suspects; Abubakar Adamu; Hassan Kabiru; Abubakar Babayu; Yusuf Ahmad and Abdullahi Abubakar all of Checheniya Quarters Gombe were arrested by detectives from Gombe division on the 4th of June, 2023.
According to the statement, their arrest followes a formal complaints by four persons lodged at Gombe Divisional Police Headquarters that they were robbed of their valuable items by the suspects at different location in Gombe metropolis.
The statement states that, “The suspects criminally conspired among themselves and robbed the complainants of their valuable items.
“The suspects confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court for prosecution.
Suspect Abubakar Adamu and Yusuf Ahmadu were identified by the complainants”.
According to the Police, exhibits which include;Five cutlasses; One stabilizer; a Samsung Galaxy S8 plus; Two small phones (1 Tecno Phone and 1 Itel phone);one bundle of wrapper and one wall curtain.
Similarly, the Police also arrested Adamu Mohammed; Abdulmummini Saidu and Ibrahim Adamu over alleged conspiracy and armed robbery.
According to the statement, the suspects were arrested by police detectives from Bojude Division on the 8th of june, 2023 after a formal complaint received by the principal of G.S.T.C Kwami L.G.A that, four of his students, Jonas Johaida, Jonah Jonathan, Ezra Luka and Suleiman Musa were allegedly robbed by the suspects on the 4th june, 2023 while on their way to school.
The statement added, “The suspects conspired among themselves and attacked the victims with cutlasses, sticks and robbed them of the following items; one Gionee phone F200 valued fourteen thousand naira (14,000.00k) with an airtel sim card, one Tecno Canon value of nine thousand (9,000.00k), Vivo A51 value of seventeen thousand (17,000.00k), 1 mp3 player and cash of 500”.
According to the Police, two sharp cutlasses;One stick;One mp3 player and two mobile phones were recovered from the suspects.
The Police also arrested three suspects over criminal conspiracy and theft.
The suspects, Abdulaziz Abubakar; Abdullahi Shuaibu Alias Dealer and Hassan Adamu were arrested by the Police from Gombe Division on June 11th, 2023 while acting on an intelligence report about a syndicate of thieves who specializes in using tricycles to steal goats from Malam Inna communities, Wuro Kesa communities and selling them and we’re arrested at their various hideouts.
According to the Police, one tricycle and a Goat were recovered from the suspects.
“The suspects confessed voluntarily to having carried out the act. Investigation is still ongoing and the case will soon be charged to court for prosecution”. The statement added.
It further added that, suspected Kalare and thieves, Nura Abdulhamid; Yakubu Ibrahim; Abubkar Sale;Nuhu Yusuf and Haladu Bello were also arrested by the Police Team of Operation Hattara while on township patrol and intercepted two suspects, Nura Abdulhamid and Yusuf Ibrahim all of Jeka da fari Quarters Gombe.
The Police said, they allegedly conspired and dispossessed one Abdulrahman Sani of Hayin Misau of the sum of N3,500 three while armed with a knife.
The statement added, “In the same vein, one Abubakar Saleh ‘m’ 20yrs old, was arrested at Bolari quarters having trespassed into the house of Abdulrahman Yusuf ‘m’ of the same address and made away with one infinix note 12 model valued (N110,000:00k), and also one Nuhu Yusuf ‘m’ suspected to be a member of Kalare was arrested. The case is under investigation and will soon be charged to court for prosecution”.
According to the statement,one cutlass, two knives and two phones were recovered from the suspects.
The command appeals to the good people of the State to continue to collaborate with the police by taking a keen interest in issues of their personal security and neighbourhood safety by providing useful information on the activities of any suspicious individuals or groups.
