Gombe PDP Slams Governor Inuwa Over Alleged Neglect Of Education Sector
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has criticised the state governor Inuwa Yahaya for prioritising “hollow initiatives” over the pressing needs of the state’s education and health sectors.
PDP in a press release by its state Public Relations Officer, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, alleged that the governor’s recent international trips to Michigan State University and the World Medical Relief headquarters in Detroit have yielded no tangible benefits for the state.
The opposition party has particularly berated the governor over the ongoing indefinite strike in the state-owned Gombe State University (GSU), over alleged government’s failure to meet its financial obligations.
According to him, despite promises to increase funding to the university, students now face departmental fees ranging from N7,000 to N50,000, jeopardising their educational aspirations.
The PDP questions Governor Inuwa’s priorities, citing his proposal to establish a College of Agriculture at GSU ‘despite neglecting existing educational institutions’.
He said the administration appears to prioritise optics over substantive investment, leaving GSU in a precarious position while feigning commitment to agricultural education.
