Gombe State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mohammed Jibrin Barde was booed at the campaign rally held in Gombe.
In a viral video posted on the Social Media, some people from the crowd were seen shouting ‘Bamayi’ which means ‘We don’t want you’ in Hausa.
The shouting rented the air after the former Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo introduced him to speak saying in Hausa ” Although we don’t have enough time and we are in the middle of campaigns, let me introduce my junior brother, our state governor by the will of Allah, Alhaji Muhammadu…”.
However, as soon as the PDP Governorship candidate mounted the Podium to speak, the crowd started shouting showing their resentment towards him despite the presence of the former governor, party officials and other prominent PDP personalities at the rally.
The incidence is a pointer to the division in Gombe PDP which was largely attributes to the emergence of Jibrin as it’s candidate.
The party has been deeply divided since his emergence as the candidate which was rejected by many party members.
This led to the defection of many prominent party officials including the PDP zonal women leader, former Commissioners, advisers and party stalwarts who joined the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who were received into the party by it’s Governorship candidate, Khamisu Mailantarki.
