The Gombe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced their endorsement of Alhassan Yahya, the current national deputy president of the union as next president in the upcoming election.
Our correspondent reports that Yahya, who served as deputy president to Chris Isuguzo hails from Gombe State.
As a show of support, the council picked up the nomination form on his behalf and presented to him on Tuesday in Gombe.
According to the state chairman of the union, Faruk Mu’azu, the deputy national president is known for his dedication to the field of journalism and his commitment to the betterment of the NUJ, hence his consideration as their candidate for the presidential position.
Faruk stated that Alhassan’s experience and passion for journalism made him a fitting choice for the role.
“Comrade Alhassan’s dedication to the profession and his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of journalism in Nigeria makes him the most deserving candidate for this position. His leadership skills, vision, and passion for the union’s progress when he served as national deputy president are undeniable.
“As we present this nomination form, we affirm our confidence in Comrade Alhassan’s ability to lead the NUJ to greater heights. We believe in his capacity to unite, inspire, and empower journalists across the country.”, he said.
Responding, Alhassan Yahya, appreciated the Gombe state council for the show of support and commended all chapels and members of the union in Gombe for their solidarity.
