Gombe NNPP Ready To Win LG Elections – Mailantarki
The gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Gombe State Alhaji Khamisu Ahmad Mailantarki, has said the party is fully ready to defeat APC in the April 27, 2024 local government elections.
Mailantarki made the party’s status known during a state level stakeholders meeting in Gombe.
While expressing that the history of local government elections is a one party affair in the state, Khamisu Mailantarki said NNPP is ready to rub shoulders with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election and win the majority seats.
He accused the ruling party and the government of exercising extra powers in denying the opposition parties a level playing ground in local government elections.
Celebrating the recent victory of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Supreme Court, the Gombe NNPP guber candidate said the court has affirmed the choice of Kanawa in the March 2023 election.
On the insinuations that the governor and the NNPP National Leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso together with their supporters will join the APC, Mailantarki affirmed that the party is carefully looking at the development, and shall soon come up with a unanimous decision.
On his part, the Gombe NNPP State Chairman Hon. Rambi Ibrahim Ayala, re-echoed the party’s recognition, support and loyalty to Kwankwaso as party’s bonafide national leader, describing those trying to create factions in NNPP as attention seekers.
Rambi Ayala encouraged party members on unity, synergy and commitments for the success of the party in the forthcoming local governments election and in the 2027.
Speaking further on the election date, the State Secretary of the NNPP Nasir Muhammad Baba Shariff, said the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) has informed them that the price of form for local government chairman is fixed at one million, deputy chairman 500,000 while for councillor at 300,000 Naira.
Stakeholders who spoke at the meeting, advised on measures to move the party forward.
