Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, member representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has secured the release of a woman, Binta Muhammad and her daughter from the hand of their kidnappers after payment of millions as ransom.
Binta who hailed from Jarkasa community in Bajoga, Funakaye local government area of Gombe state was kidnapped alongside her 5 years old daughter about 43 days ago along Kaduna – Birnin Gwari road.
A member of Binta’s family who preferred anonymity said the abductors demanded N10 million ransom which the family cannot afford.
The source added that the ransom was later reduced to N4 million which, he said, his family could still not afford to pay, until Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo came to their rescue and pay the money instantly.
“The kidnappers initially demanded N10 million ransom for their release. After series of negotiations, they reduced it to N4 million. It was Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo took the responsibility of paying the ransom because we could not afford it, we are a very poor family.”
After securing their release, Hon. Yaya Bauchi directed that they should be taken to hospital for proper medical attention.
Binta and her daughter are currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Kano.
