Dr Bello Ambi, Chairman, Gombe State Private Hospitals Registration and Regulatory Authority has warned practitioners against unprofessional conduct in their practice.
Ambi gave the warning while addressing Journalists after the authority sealed off a private hospital in Billiri Local Government Area and a Laboratory in Dogon ruwa district of Kaltungo Local Government Area of the state on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two facilities were sealed off following a monitoring and evaluation exercise of private medical facilities in Gombe south Senatorial district of the state.
He disclosed that the two medical facilities were sealed off because they were found to be operating outside the Authority’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Ambi said the exercise was aimed at enforcing standards in medical practice, since hospitals deals with human lives, warning that the authority would not hesitate to close down more hospitals, laboratories or scanning centres that failed to adhere to the rules.
He said that those who failed to renew their registration and employ qualified and registered medical personnel, would not be exempted from sanctions.
Ambi further advised operators of private medical facilities in the state to renew their registration when due, and adhere strictly to the authority’s operating procedures.
According to him, the monitoring exercise would continue to Gombe Central Senatorial district and subsequently Gombe North.
“We are poised to give quality Medicare to our people, any attempts at a short cut would not be tolerated,” he said
