The Secretary to the Government of Gombe State, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has said that the state government is exploring opportunities to gainfully engage youth in the state.
Prof. Njodi made the assertion in his office in Gombe while receiving the leadership of Gombe South Friends and Frontiers, a forum of young men and women from Gombe South Senatorial Zone.
He expressed delight with the formation of the group and urged the leadership and members of the group to remain focused and determined to achieve the ideals of the group.
“With the advent of such youth groups and their lofty objectives, a lot can be expected from future leaders who are the machineries for meaningful and sustainable development.” He said.
Prof. Njodi further explained that Governor Inuwa Yahaya has a special spot for the younger ones, hence his drive towards creating enabling environment for them to strive, assuring that the state government will continue to support such initiatives.
He welcomed the bold idea of forming such a group which according to him, will promote unity and ensure sustainable development of the zone.
He charged them to put aside all forms of sentiments if they must achieve the objectives for which the group is created.
Earlier speaking, the leader of the group, Mr. Timothy Fashim, who exalted the virtues of the SSG since his days as Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, expressed confidence that with such huge leadership background, the state will immensely benefit from the SSG’s wealth of experience.
He also commended Gov. Yahaya for providing dividends of democracy to the citizens of the state.
