Gombe Fiscal Responsibility Commission Lauded for Transparency, Accountability

Gombe State Fiscal Responsibility Commission has been lauded for promoting transparency and accountability in governance in the state.
Team Leader, Open Government Partnership (OGP) Non-State Actors, Mr Jika Wunako, made the commendation when he led other members an advocacy visit to the Commission.
He explained that the visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the Commission and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in promoting accountable governance.
Wunako congratulated the commission’s chairman on his well-deserved appointment and commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration for its people-centered policy and exceptional commitment to Open Government Partnership principles.
He emphasised the need for prioritising Citizens’ Demand Projects in the state budget and allocating realistic funds to ensure effective implementation despite inflationary challenges.
The organization urged the commission to expedite the signing and launch of the OGP State Action Plan (SAP 1) 2024-2026 and work towards institutionalising State Fiscal Transparency Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) principles.
Responding, the Chairman of the Commission, Umar Bello Babagoro, appreciated CSOs for their contribution to the development of the state and stressed the importance of fostering inclusive participation in governance processes.
He expressed optimism about sustaining gains and strengthening governance processes, ensuring value for money and better lives for Gombe residents.
