The deputy speaker Gombe State House of Assembly and member representing Kwami West constituency in the state assembly, Hon. Siddi Buba on Wednesday empowered 30 members of his constituents comprising youths and women with 90 goats with the aim of alleviating poverty and improving their well-being.
The lawmaker also empowered another 50 women with chickens and N5000 each as support to start poultry farming business.
Daylight Reporters learnt that the lawmaker organised a training programme for the women and youths in goat rearing, then empowered them with live goats and cash to start the business.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker said the empowerment was aimed at making the beneficiaries financially stable since the she-goats could produce between two to three kids twice a year.
He added that the beneficiaries were carefully selected having identified their area of interest and needs.
The lawmaker also admonished the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity given to them to see how they can be economically independent.
The beneficiaries thanked the lawmaker for the gesture, promising their total loyalty and support to the lawmaker and administration of governor Inuwa Yahaya in the state
