In a heartwarming gesture to mark the Sallah celebration, the Annie Okonkwo Foundation has extended free medical care to 300 vulnerable individuals in Katsina State.
The initiative, which underscores the foundation’s commitment to healthcare accessibility, community development, and social welfare, was conducted in collaboration with the Uche Okonkwo Foundation.
The Programme Coordinator of the Annie Okonkwo Foundation, Success Smith, emphasized that the event was not just a gathering but a reaffirmation of their commitment to the health, well-being, and future of the community.
“This day is about the joy of building our community, promoting healthcare, and boosting the hope of the people,” Smith stated.
“We believe that everyone should have access to quality healthcare, education, and opportunities for self-improvement,” he said.
The medical outreach provided free health screenings, cancer awareness programs, and essential medical support, including blood pressure (HBP) and blood sugar level checks.
Additionally, as part of the Sallah celebration, the foundation distributed food items to beneficiaries to further support the well-being of the community.
The intervention by the Annie Okonkwo Foundation, in partnership with the Uche Okonkwo Foundation, highlights the crucial role of non-governmental organizations in bridging healthcare gaps, especially among underprivileged populations.
Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the initiative, noting that such gestures bring relief and hope to many who struggle to afford medical care.
This initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of community-driven efforts in addressing healthcare challenges and ensuring that vulnerable groups receive the support they need.
