A former Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Muhammad Nami, has disclaimed a fraudulent Facebook account claiming to be disbursing money on his behalf.
He said information contained in the Facebook account is entirely false and should be disregarded.
In a statement he personally signed, Nami said, ‘It has come to my attention that scammers are using a Facebook account with the name MOHAMMED NAMI to promote a fraudulent scheme claiming that I am the President of the Commonwealth Association of Taxes and that I am distributing ₦5,000,000 to citizens in partnership with EDGE VAULTRA on payment of N500,000.
“This claim is entirely FALSE. I am not the President of the Commonwealth Association of Taxes. I am also not affiliated with this scheme and have not authorised such activity. I am not involved in any program requiring people to pay ₦500,000 or any amount to receive funds,” he said.
He urged the public to ignore such posts, interviews, or messages, as they are attempts to scam unsuspecting individuals and advised they should not be engaged with or send money to anyone claiming to represent him.
The former FIRS Executive Chairman explained that if anyone is contacted over such fraudulent content, they should kindly report it immediately to Facebook or law enforcement agencies. “Stay vigilant and share this message to protect others,” he said.
