The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) on Thursday inaugurated rice processing mill in Bajabure, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the mill was handed over to Paracote Association, to manage the facility for onward processing.
Dr Obadiah Noah, FMARD’s Coordinator in Adamawa, said that the project intended to create employment opportunities for the youth, enhance wealth creation and promote food security in the country.
“This is an established rice mill provided with destoner which is part of the 2020 projects executed by the federal government through the Ministry of Agriculture.
“This project is intended to provide job opportunity for our youth, to create wealth and also to promote food security,’’ he said.
According to him, presently agriculture is being treated as a business no longer as boobies hence the need for the youth to be productive and maintain the mill for more profit.
Noah advised the association to take the advantage of the mill to create wealth for themselves and impact positively on the community
Mr Musa Audu, the President of the association, lauded the gesture and sought for the provision of 50 KVA generator and storage facility to enhance its operation.
Audu said the association had initiated move to connect the facility with the national grid to enable it to begin operation
