FG Flags Off N59.4bn Water Project In Jigawa, As Contractor Assures Quality, Timely Completion

The Federal Government, has officially flagged off the N59.4 billion Greater Dutse Water Supply Project in Sintilmawa, Jigawa State.
The project, which is expected to provide clean and sustainable water to residents of Dutse and it environs, was flagged-off by the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. (Prof.) Joseph Utsev alongside the Governor of Jigawa state, Malam Umar Namadi.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony Thursday, the Minister emphasized the significance of the project in tackling the decades-long water scarcity in Dutse.
He reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to prioritizing essential infrastructure that enhances the quality of life for Nigerians.
He stated the project was formally handed to the contractor and is expected to be completed within 24 months, assuring the government and people of Jigawa of his continued commitment to ensuring adequate funding for the speedy completion of the project.
Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, lauded the Federal Government for its intervention, describing the project as a major milestone in the state’s development efforts.
He stated that for over two decades, successive governments in Jigawa State had made efforts to see to the actualization of the project but could not achieve it.
He described the FG’s approval for the project at this time as a demonstration of his administration’s desire to reduce the level of water scarcity in the state, assuring of his support for the successful implementation of the project within the given timeframe.
The Chairman/CEO of the company handling the project, Jidadu Ventures Ltd, Yahaya Barambu, assured both the federal and the Jigawa State governments of quality work and timely delivery of the project, saying “we have accepted this project and will ensure its completion on or before the given timeframe of 24 months”.
Remarks were earlier made by federal lawmakers, the Managing Director of Hadejiya-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Water Resources and a host of others.
