Some farmers in Kebbi have commended the state government over free distribution of fertilisers this cropping season.
They described the gesture as “commendable,” adding that it would encourage productivity and boost food security programme.
Alhaji Chiso Nayaya-Ambursa, a farmer, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
Nayaya-Ambursa, who is also the former Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kebbi chapter, lauded Gov. Nasir Idris over execution of viable projects to fast track sustainable development of the state.
“We are proud of the new governor, Dr Nasir Idris, he has started on a very sound footing, while other states are selling fertlisers to their farmers, our amiable governor decided to give it free of charge to farmers.
“This will boost the income of peasant farmers, in addition to enhancing national food security,” he said.
While urging the people to support the new administration to enable it to deliver dividends of democracy, Nayaya-Ambursa urged the governor to sustain the developmental stride for the good of the state.
