A former Senior Special Assistant on security Alhaji Imamu Tukur Ahmad to ex Bauchi state governor Isa Yuguda has lamented the recent killings and assassinations of prominent persons in the state by yet to be identified terrorists.
Imamu who is also a legistlative aide to the chairman senate committee on police affairs Senator Halliru Jika made the lamentation Thursday in a press release issued to journalists where he cautioned that if prompt action is not taken by the government and authorities, the killings would escalate.
He particularly condemned the recent assassination of a member of the state house of assembly Honourable Musa Mante Baraza, director at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa university Bauchi Engineer Hassan Sabo Jama’are who was shot death three days ago and the abduction of governor’s elder brother Adamu Mohammed some months ago by gunmen who was later rescued by police.
According to him, another innocent citizen Malam Aminu Kobi was killed by unknown murderers in recent time and his corpse was found at Gudum Sayawa area of the state capital.
“Bauchi state has recently been plagued by insecurity; culminating into incessant kidnappings, assassinations of innocent people in cold-blood, ruthless killings of citizens for ritual purposes.
“Bauchi state is a state that represents tourism but how can tourists visit if there is an alarming rate of crime?
“As a former security assistant to Malam Isa Yuguda, the former Bauchi state governor (2007-2015) and also now, being the security adviser to Distinguished Senator Halliru Dauda Jika (Dokajin Bauchi) representing the good people of Bauchi Central geo-political zone and senate chairman committee on police affairs; I must condemn in every strong terms the nonchalant attitude and lukewarm approach to security measures”. He said.
