Hon. Hassan Mamman Barguma, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state has dumped the ruling party.
Barguma, who was the majority leader in the Adamawa State House of Assembly between 2015 – 2019, accused the APC of lack of fairness and decorum.
In a letter dated April 26th, 2022 and addressed to the APC Chairman in Hong ward of Hong local government area, Hon. Barguma said he joined the APC in 2014 with the expectation that the party will serve as a platform to serve the need of the people of Hong, Adamawa state and Nigeria at large, but according to him “unfortunately, this was not the case”.
Barguma said even though he worked to build the APC, he cannot watch the party collapse as a member.
“I envisioned a political party where all people will be treated equally with relevance and decorum according to democratic principles regardless of ethnic, religion or income. I envisaged hope and confidence that all people will be recognised, respected and given a chance. Unfortunately this was not the case, and I can no longer stand and watch helplessly.
“Therefore, for the reasons stated above, I am hereby resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC) effective 27th April 2022.” He stated.
