The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) project Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in collaboration with the Nigerian Peace Corps have conferred ‘Sustainable Development Goals Award’ on a renowned son of Gombe state, Engr Usman Abubakar Dankawu and decorated him as SDGs Ambassador.
According to the Chairman Board of Trustees of the project, the award was “in recognition and appreciation of his efforts and contributions in the area of ‘Environmental Activisim, Youths Empowerment And Peace Building’.
He added that the award is a global prize to identify, recognise and promote individuals’ and organisational efforts on SDGs, good governance, peace building and high-impact projects and policies, amongst others.
He acknowledged the efforts of Engr Usman Abubakar Dankawu in protecting the environment, youths empowerment and peace building which he said is recognised and highly appreciated.
Accepting the award, Engr Dankawu thanked the SDGs and Nigerian Peace Corps for the recognition.
He stressed that he believes in charity without noise and expressed his willingness to work closely with the bodies in achieving the set goals of the SDGs project.
