Pen Resource University Gombe was yesterday renamed and unveiled by Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, Emir of Gombe, and Chairman Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs as North Eastern University.
Sources from the University revealed that the name had been reserved for the university long before it started the processes for obtaining the operational license and is rooted in the vision to establish a university indigenous of the North-Eastern.
