Following the recent launch of the Mass metering scheme to bridge the gap in metering in Kano franchise, the Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), has urged customers to embrace the initiative.
In a statement by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the Management said the initiative which is a collaborative effort between the Federal Government and KEDCO will end issues of complaints on estimated billing as well as guarantee better service delivery to customers in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States through adequate energy accountability.
There are different phases of the initiative; the one we launched is the zero phase where over 87,000 meters are now being installed for customers free of charge while subsequent phases will commence after the zero phase meters are exhausted.
In his message to customers, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEDCO, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna said “what we demand from our customers is to embrace the initiative by supporting and cooperating with our staff and the vendors.
“We are out to meter everyone in line with the FG policy which KEDCO has also keyed into in the overall interest of every stakeholder.
“ We have done a lot of sensitization on the processes and procedures of meters acquisition but for those who are yet to understand can visit our offices for more information as there are personnel who have been dedicated to serve customers in that regard.”
