The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday commenced sensitisation of motorist on traffic rules and regulations across the Kano State to ensure crash-free Ember Months.
A statement by the Command’s Public Education Officer, Kabiru Ibrahim issued in Kano, said Sector Commander, Mr Zubairu Mato was currently on a working tour to FRSC units in the state to prepare personnel to ensure crash-free Ember Months.
The statement noted that the public sensitisation campaigns held in motor parks, religious places, markets, media and other public fora has been intensified and would be sustained within the period.
“We will focus on critical offences such as speed limit violations, overloading and social distancing in vehicles, tyre violations, dangerous driving, light signs, wipers, use of phone while driving, seat belt, route and lane violations among others.
“The patrol and rescue operations has been intensified in the State as part of proactive measures aimed at ensuring safer motoring environment during the Ember months and beyond, “Ibrahim added.
It said that, the sector commander enjoined FRSC staff to eschew all vices capable of tarnishing the image of the Corps and urged them to be conscious of their personal health status so as to avoid life threatening ailments, among other issues.
“The Sector Commander, therefore, call on all stakeholders in transportation in the State to cooperate with FRSC on its enormous task of minimising road traffic crashes in the State.”
The statement urged the general public to report crashes and road obstructions to the nearest FRSC Command in the State for prompt response, to ensure hitch free ember month.
It added that in case of emergency, the Command’s ambulances, tow truck, rescue team are on 24 hours standby.
