The renowned philanthropist and politician, Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has called on Muslims in Nigeria to embrace the values of sacrifice, love and continue to foster unity as they join their counterparts worldwide to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Gwamna, in a statement signed on Friday by his aide, Sani Abubakar, said the period of the celebration was a clarion call for Muslims to imbibe the lessons of the season such as selfless service to God and humanity, sacrifice and sincere commitment to righteous conducts in their private and public life.
According to him “I extend warm greetings and felicitation to the Muslim Ummah in Gombe state and Nigeria at large as we celebrate Eid-el-kabir festival.
“This year’s celebration came at a time when the world was plagued by the novel Coronavirus pandemic and I wish to thank our people for their patience, sacrifice and prayers for the nation and their obedience to the COVID-19 protocols issued by relevant authorities to avoid a further spread of the deadly virus.
“As we celebrate, I urge all to embrace the spiritual lessons and virtues of the Holy Prophet’s teachings of piety, love, justice, fairness peaceful co-existence and forgiveness, tolerance, honesty and dedication to the service of God and humanity.” He said.
While calling on the faithful to continue praying for peace and unity in the country, he urged them not to forget to seek for divine intervention to quicken the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I urge that we should not relent in praying for the peace, unity, and development of our state and Nigeria. Also, our supplication should include God’s intervention for an end to the coronavirus pandemic.
“May the celebration be hitch free and we should endeavour to extend our love to those around us especially the needy and less privileged.” He played.
