The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted bail to popular socialite Obinna Iyiegbu a.k.a Obi Cubana.
The Anambra-born club owner, who arrived at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency, Jabi, Abuja, around noon on Monday, was released on Thursday evening.
Allegations against the socialite were unclear but a senior official at the commission disclosed that his case bordered on alleged money laundering and tax fraud.
It was learnt that he was allowed to go after the crack detectives of the commission completed their questioning.
His release was confirmed to Daily Trust by the spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, but he did not give further details.
“Yes, he has been released this evening (Thursday),” Uwujaren simply said.
Obi Cubana made headlines in July when he hosted a lavish burial for his mother in Oba, Anambra State, as over 200 cows were reportedly slaughtered.
