A former Governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
Bello was arrested by the Chief Security Officer of the commission when he visited the commission Tuesday at 12:58 pm.
Sources said the former Governor was in company of three of his lawyers and is currently being questioned by EFCC investigators.
He served as the Governor of Kogi State from 2016 to 2024.
He is facing a 19-count charge by the EFCC for alleged money laundering and misappropriation of N80.2 billion.
Despite attempts to arrest him in April and September 2024, Bello evaded capture with the alleged assistance of Governor Usman Ododo, using his immunity as a sitting governor.
Bello has since appealed to the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn a warrant for his arrest issued in April.
