Edo’ll Become Powerhouse Of Sports In Nigeria — Hon. Enabulele

Chairman of the Edo State Sports Festival Organising Committee, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has said Edo State is solidifying its position as the powerhouse of sports in Nigeria.
Speaking at the Government House in Benin City after the inauguration of the committee by Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, on Friday, Hon. Enabulele reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing sports at all levels.
Expressing gratitude to the deputy governor for his inspiring opening speech, Enabulele stated that the formation of the committee was a clear testament to the administration’s unwavering dedication to sports development.
“As a committee, we fully understand the responsibility bestowed on us. We reassure the government and the people of Edo State that we will discharge our duties with utmost dedication and excellence, knowing the high expectations surrounding this festival,” he said.
Hon. Enabulele emphasized that the Edo State Sports Festival is not just a competition but a strategic platform for talent identification, grassroots development, and preparation for the upcoming National Sports Festival in May 2025.
He acknowledged Edo State’s rich sporting history and reiterated the committee’s determination to uphold the highest global standards in organizing the event.
“Edo State has a legacy of sporting excellence, and this event presents an opportunity to celebrate our current athletes while discovering new talents who will represent our state and nation at higher levels. We will ensure that the festival meets global standards, promoting fairness, competition, and sportsmanship,” he added.
The committee chairman assured that the organizing team would work diligently with all stakeholders, including association chairmen, board members, sponsors, and the general public, to deliver a successful festival.
He pledged transparency and innovation in planning and execution, ensuring a world-class sporting event that would further cement Edo State’s reputation as a leader in Nigerian sports.
Hon. Enabulele concluded by calling on all Edo people to support the initiative, noting that a thriving sports culture would not only boost the state’s image but also provide economic and social benefits through youth engagement, talent development, and sports tourism.
