The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has approved a new payment dateline for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
The date is from February 7th to February 14th for them to pay the final Hajj fare set at ₦8,784,085.54 in accordance with directives from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Chairman and Executive Secretary of the Board, Mallam Musah Muhammad Uduimoh and Alhaji Eranga Muhammadkabir Abdulkabir gave the new deadline at a sensitization programme for the pilgrims in Benin City.
They emphasized that the board has secured prime accommodations and catering services for the pilgrims, promising that Nigerian cuisine will be served throughout the pilgrimage an effort which aims to address the complaint by the past pilgrims.
Chairman Uduimoh said, “The board has secured accommodation close to the Haram, minimizing the distance pilgrims will have to travel before Masjid Haram.
“We have ensured that we achieve reaching out to the various parts of the state to sensitize them. That is why we have been to Edo Central, Okpella in Edo North, and we are planning to go to Akoko Edo also. Our plan is to bring Hajj sensitisation to your doorstep,” Uduimoh said.
Chairman of the Muslim Elders’ Forum, Alhaji Musa Sule praised the current leadership of the board and Governor Monday Okpebholo for Inclusivity in governance.
According to him, “I have been in politics since 1979, no government has appointed a Muslim SSG or Chief of Staff. So, Governor Okpebholo deserves our prayers.”
The sensitisation saw attendance from the League of Imaams, Edo South and the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), among other dignitaries.
The board also used the occasion to remind intending pilgrims that the refund process for the 2023 Hajj is still ongoing. Those concerned are encouraged to contact the board for further information regarding their refunds.
