The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo has assured the people of Eguaholor-Isi community, Uhumwonde Local Government Area, of more empowerment and economic revival, if re-elected on Sept. 19.
Gov. Godwin Obaseki, the candidate of the party, gave the assurance on Monday, during the party’s war-to-ward campaign tour/rally in Isi Wards seven and eight.
Obaseki noted that he was aware of the other challenges in the community, and promised to give the people a better living standard.
He declared that in view of this, he would give more appointments to the sons and daughters of the community when re-elected.
The governor also said that he would empower more people through agriculture to boost the economy of the community.
He expressed optimism that the Eguaholor community road project for which a contract had already been awarded would be inaugurated if he won his re-election.
He further promised to ensure that the community had access to potable water, electricity and good roads.
Earlier, Chief Dan Orbih, the Chairman of PDP Edo Governorship Election Campaign Council, described the party as the most democratic party in the country.
Orbih said that the internal democracy in the party would always throw up the best candidate of the party for any political office.
The chairman also said that the internal democracy would not allow for ‘god fatherism.’
He further said that the party’s candidate would never get tired of working for the people of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PDP also received some defectors from the opposition, APC.
