The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu has sympathised with the owners of three FM stations; Enyimba 94.3 FM, Rose 101.9 FM, and Legend 98.3 FM, destroyed by fire Saturday night in Aba, Abia State.
The three stations located under one building along Aba-Owerri Road Expressway, Aba, were reportedly engulfed by the inferno that caused a significant material damage, however, but no lives were lost in the blaze.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu on Sunday, the Deputy Speaker also sympathized with the members of staff and loyal listeners of the stations in Aba and beyond.
He described the affected stations as a hub of community entertainment and information.
Kalu said, “I extend my deepest sympathies to the owners, staff, and loyal listeners of stations. While the material damage is significant, let’s take comfort in the safety of all individuals involved.”
He recognized the roles the stations have been playing in promoting local talents, providing vital information as well as fostering connection among residents and commended their tireless efforts and dedication to serving the public interest.
