The immediate past Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has donated relief materials to flood victims of flood in Bajoga, Funakaye local government area of Gombe State.
The materials comprised food and non-food items, apart from cash.
Presenting the materials on behalf of the former governor, his aides, Alhaji Haruna Manaja and Usman Haruna Fada, said the gesture was borne out of Dankwambo’s affection for the people whether in or out of the office and promised to continue to provide succur to the didtressed people in trying times.
“We are here to present to you emergency relief, comprising food and non-food items on behalf of our political leader and Senatorial candidate, Dr Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo,” Manaja said, adding, “Dankwambo deemed it fit to assist the recent flood victims in Bajoga without minding which political party they belong to.”
He described as grieving the flood that ravaged the areas this year, calling on well-meaning citizens to come to the aid of the victims.
Dankwambo urged the victims to consider the incident as a test from Allah, but said had the government put proactive measures in place, the plights of the people usually affected would have been mitigated and with reduced losses.
The items distributed included, 100 bags of rice, 170 bags of maize, 20 carton of detergent bar, bundles of 100 mats, and N1 million cash.
Daylight Reporters reports that some residents of Bajoga were involved in a devastating flood caused by a heavy downpour last weekend, which led to loss of lives, injuries and displacement of residents.
