Cross River Police Command Plans Clampdown On Criminals, As New CP Assumes Duty

The Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Police Force says it has concluded strategic plans to clampdown on all disgruntled elements and haters of peace in the state.
The State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Irene Ugbo, made this known in a statement issued Friday announcing the arrival of a new Commissioner of Police, CP Olusegun Eyitayo.
In the statement entitled: “Posting of a new Commissioner of Police to Cross River State,” Ugbo noted that, the new Commissioner of Police has therefore, solicited for collaborative partnership for effective and efficient service delivery in line with best practices.
She stated that the new Commissioner has also called on residents to continue to support the Police and other sister security agencies in law enforcement and maintenance of public order.
“The Police Command will not fold its hands and watch any person, or group of persons, or any unauthorized procession across the State under whatever guise to obstruct or cause breakdown of law and order.
“Meanwhile, Areas Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOS) and Tactical Commanders are directed to ensure the safety and security of members of the public,” the statement stressed.
The State PPRO added that CP Eyitayo took over from CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, who is now promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 10 Headquarters, Sokoto State.
It further explained that the new Commissioner has held various postings and positions as well as attended professional courses within and outside the country.
Before his redeployment to Cross River State Command, he was the Force Provost Marshal, Force Headquarters, Abuja. He hails from Ondo State.
The CP was enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on 18th of May, 1992 and obtained his first degree (B. Ed. Honors) in Physical & health Education, from the University of Ibadan in 1987 and further went to the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he obtain a Masters Degree in law Enforcement and Criminal Justice in 2008 and Masters Degree in Security and Strategic Studies from the National Defence Academy Kaduna, in 2024
CP Eyitayo is a fellow of the National Defence College, Abuja Course 32.
