A 29-year-old security guard, Musa Mukhtari, was, on Wednesday, remanded by a Karu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly damaging his employer’s car.
The Judge, Ishaq Hassan, ordered Mukhtari’s remand until Dec. 2 to determine his sentence.
Mukhtari had pleaded guilty to the charges of criminal breach of trust and mischief, and begged for mercy.
The Prosecution Counsel, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the complainant reported the matter at Asokoro Police Station on Nov. 17.
“The complainant had alleged that sometime in July, he entrusted his Toyota Hyundai, with registration number: YAB 419 MV to the defendant, who happened to be a security guard in his house.
“The complainant instructed the defendant to be warming the car while he traveled and pleaded with him not to drive the said car.
“However, the defendant disregarded the instructions, but dishonestly drove the said car and, in the process, had an accident with it, thereby causing so much damage to the car.
“The damaged part of the car include: the head light, front windscreen and the front bumper, which values have yet to be ascertained,” Osho told the court.
According to him, the offences contravene and are punishable under Sections 312 and 327 of the Penal Code.
