A Shari’a Court sitting in Kano, on Thursday, ordered that a 27-year-old man, Nasiru Mustapha, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly stealing smoked fish worth N13,000.
The defendant, who lives in Kwara Hudu Quarters Kano, is charged with criminal conspiracy and theft.
The presiding Judge, Malam Mansur Ibrahim, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a Correctional Centre.
Ibrahim adjourned the matter until March 17, for further mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Abdullahi Lawan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 9 at Kwana Hudu Quarters Kano.
He also alleged that at about 11 a.m. the defendant and Isa Suleiman, now at large, trespassed into the house of Anas Nafi’u and stole a live chicken and dried fish worth N13,000.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 133 of Kano State Shari’a Law.
