The Federal Higher Court sitting in Ditse Jigawa state Capital has nullified the election of Muhammad Haruna as the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kazaure Constituency in the state House of Assembly.
Delivering the judgement, the presiding judge, Justice Hassan Dikko said, the court was satisfied that Muhammad Haruna has not satisfied requirement for contesting the election base on the school certificates he presented.
He declared, “Also the court has satisfied that, some of the delegates were disenfranchised during the primary election and that the votes belonged to the other candidate, Barrister Bala Hamza Gada”.
He therefore said, the court has nullified the election of Muhammad Haruna Idris and also declared other contestant Barrister Bala Hamza Gada as the winner of the election.
Speaking after the judgement, Counsel to the complainant, Barrister Ibrahim Sa’ad said, he was satisfied with the outcome of the describing it as victory to the rule of law and democracy.
He noted that, they will notify INEC and the APC and request them to abide by the court ruling by including the name of Barrister Bala Hamza on the ballot paper.
Also speaking, Barrister Bala Hamza who is the serving member representing the constituency, said the judgement is a victory and called on his opponent to come and join hands for the victory of APC at all levels.
