An Ogbeson Chief magistrate Court sitting in Benin Edo State on Wednesday docked one Usman Ali, 21, and his friend for allegedly stealing three motor batteries.
Usman Ali, a shoe maker and his friend were arraigned by the Edo state Police Command on two count charge of stealing and receiving stolen property before the Chief Magistrate, Prince Mutairu Oare who frowned at frequent alleged robbery cases in Benin
Police prosecutor, Sgt Kehinde Iyawe told Journalists that the defendants were being tried on a three count charge for stealing and receiving stolen property, adding that the defendants Committed the Offence on July 9, 2020 at Eyean, Kaka Junction in Benin City
Sgt Kehinde Iyawe said that Usman Ali’s friend, Uba Joseph stole the three motor batteries value N120,000 property of one Mohammad Garba, adding that after Uba had stolen the batteries, he gave two of the batteries value N80,000 to Ali knowing same to had been stolen as the Offences Contravened Sections 390( 9) and 427 of the Criminal Code,laws of the defunct Bendel State, 1976, now applicable in Edo State.
The prosecutor said that if found guilty of stealing, the defendants risks a seven year Jail term but the defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them while the Chief Magistrate, Prince Mutairu Oare addmitted the defendants to a N100,000 bail with surety in like sum , warning that the surety must be responsible and depose to an affidavit of means.
Oare also said that the sureties must deposit two recent passport photograps of themselves and those of the defendants with the court, adding that information about the sureties’ residences should be verified by the court registrar and adjourned the case to August 5, 2020 for further hearing
Meanwhile, two female commercial sex workers ( names withheld) were remanded in Oko prison custody in their attempt to have allegedly beat up a customer and pulled his penis for his refusal to pay the bargained fee after several rounds of sex with them few minutes interval.
The Suspects were said to have allegedly attacked their customer ( name withheld) on the fateful Saturday at a popular around Iyaro in Benin City and was arrested by the police Operatives at New Benin Police Division where they were arriagned at Chief Magistrate at Evboriaria and charged with two count of Conspiracy and attempted murder .
The were however remanded in prison Custody by Chief Magistrate Charles Obadin and adjourned the case for hearing till August 5, 2020
Inspector Gabriel Obasogie, the prosecution witness, said that the Suspects hailed from Imo State under the guise of undergoing hair dressing training in Benin City, adding that it was the second time the suspects were allegedly attacking unsuspecting customers at the brothel where all manners of Persons harbour during nighfall
