Contracts for Cattle Route Reopening in Gombe Underway – Committee

Plans are underway by Gombe State Government for the award of contract for the reopening of cattle route as a lasting solution to solving the friction between farmers and harders in the state.
This was disclosed by the state Chairman, farmers/herders settlement and prevention of dispute committee, Dr. Barnabas Malle when speaking at the committee’s enlightenment and advocacy visit to the palaces of Mai Tangle, Lamido Akko and the Emir of Pindiga in Billiri and Akko local government areas.
Dr. Malle who is also the state Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives said the state Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya is concerned on the peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders hence the setting up the committee.
He said the committee is also to enlighten traditional rulers and community leaders on the laid down rules governing the harvest period.
