Adamawa State Government has imposed a 12 hour curfew on some parts of Lamurde Local Government Area (LGA) of the state following communal clashes in some communities in the area.
Humwashi Wonosikou, the Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri said this in a statement on Wednesday in Yola.
“Following renewed clashes in parts of 2 local governments of Lamurde and Guyuk in the southern Adamawa, the state Governor, Rt. Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has imposed a 12 hour curfew on the towns of Lafiya and Boshikiri as well as the surrounding villages of Mumseri, Mere, Kupte and Zakawon with immediate effect.
The imposition of the curfew is from 5pm to 6am from Wednesday 8th June, 2022 and shall remain in place until further review.” He said.
He said the governor was disturbed by the violence and warned that security agencies have been directed to enforce the curfew, urging residents to shun rumour-mongering and provide useful information to security agencies to ensure a peaceful coexistence in the area.
