The membership and ranks of New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in Gombe State continues to swell as former Chairman, Akko local government area, Hon. Zakari Ya’u Abdullahi dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the party.
His defection was one among the dozens of defections by hundreds of members of the ruling APC and the opposition PDP in the state who defected and joined the NNPP in the state.
Hon. Zakari was deputy chairman and later chairman of Akko local government area during the late Abubakar Habu Hashidu led administration and he was twice a Special Assistant to the immediate past Governor of the State, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
It could be recalled that, the Gombe NNPP governorship candidate Khamisu Mai Lantarki had at several occasions received the defectors into the party.
Thedefections have made the NNPP to become the emerging strongest opposition party in the state with two members in the stateHouse of Assembly who defected from the APC to the party few days ago.
