A renowned contractor and elder statesman in Gombe state, Alhaji A. A Haruna is dead.
The elder statesman died early hours of today (Tuesday) in his house around 2am.
Confirming the death to our correspondent, one of his sons Sabo Haruna said the deceased was healthy even on Monday as he performed fasting which he usually does on Mondays and Thursdays.
He added that after sunset when he was supposed to break the fast, his father couldn’t eat as his gastric/duodenal ulcer worsened.
He said, the ailment further escalated in the night and he died of the complications.
According to him, Haruna died at the age of 84, left behind two wives and 24 children.
His funeral will hold later in the day at the palace of the Emir of Gombe.
One of his children is Honourable Sagir A. A Haruna, a former member of the Gombe state house of assembly.
