The leadership crisis in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gombe state has deepened. The tussle for supremacy between Governor Inuwa Yahaya and former governor, now senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District of Gombe state, Senator Muhammed Danjuma Goje, took a new twist with the resignation of 80 per cent of the Yamaltu Deba local government party executives from their positions, pledging loyalty to Goje.
This was disclosed by a delegation of the officials, who were received by Goje’s aide and former state organising secretary of the party, Alhaji Danjuma Babayo Kwadon, at his residence in Gombe on Thursday.
Leader of the delegation and chairman of Kwadon, Liji and Kurba ward, Muhammad Sani Kwadon, said they decided to resign from their respective positions because of the recent attack on Goje.
“We condemned the attack on our leader, Senator Goje on November 5, 2021. Today, we’ve decided to resign from our positions and pledge our loyalty to our leader, Senator Goje, because he built the APC in Gombe state and he was instrumental to the party’s success in 2019 but the present leadership in the state has destroyed everything.”
He explained that the APC is disorganised in the state and they are only loyal to Goje.
The delegation included Hon. Musa Danbuzu, Councillor Kuri, Lano, Lamban ward; Hon. Usman Abdulkadir, Councillor Kwadon, Kurba, Liji ward; Hon. Usman Adamu, Councillor Nono, Kunuwa, Wuro Birdeka.
Others were former Yamaltu Deba APC chairman, Hon. Sule Makaniki, former Yamaltu Deba APC secretary, Bello Tijjani, Federal Commissioner, Alh. Tanimu Usman among others.
Daylight Reporters had reported that Senator Goje was attacked by armed thugs on his way to Gombe town after his arrival at Gombe International Airport on November 5, 2021.
