The Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal have finally reached found a meeting point, with expectation that the union will be bringing to an halt its 8 months old strike action.
This was made known by the Union leadership on its verified twitter handle, immediately after the union’s meeting with the federal government delegation, led by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige on Friday, in Abuja.
The meeting which was held for about 8 hours turned out fruitful, with the federal government ready to pay the Varsity lecturers a huge sum of ₦70 billion.
Recall that, prior to this has been series of accusations and counter-accusations between the University teachers and the federal government of Nigeria.
The federal government also, finally bowed to the pressure not to include ASUU in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information Service (IPPIS).
