Borno Government Enhances Police Operational Capacity Amid New Initiatives

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has commended the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, during an event at the Borno State Government House, Maiduguri.
As part of efforts to enhance the operational capabilities of the police and other security agencies, the Inspector-General Friday commissioned a fleet of new vehicles and housing units.
The commissioning, attended by various dignitaries, highlighted the ongoing commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to bolstering national security.
Governor Zulum announced a donation of 100 operational vehicles, 500 motorcycles, and 40 housing units aimed at supporting the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Army.
Specifically, 60 vehicles were allocated to the police while the army received 40 vehicles and the motorcycles. The housing units were designated for police personnel.
In his address, Zulum outlined that this initiative is designed to strengthen the state’s security framework, enhance the effectiveness of security personnel operations, and improve overall morale.
He urged the beneficiaries of the donations to strategically deploy the received assets to critical areas based on assessed needs.
Additionally, both Zulum and IGP Egbetokun officially launched 110 operational vehicles and 500 motorcycles intended to improve mobility and response times for security personnel throughout the state. This initiative also includes commissioning an additional 40 newly constructed housing units, contributing to the previously allocated 230 units at the Mai Mala Buni Housing Estate.
The governor reiterated his administration’s dedication to supporting law enforcement efforts in Borno State, underscoring the necessity of equipping officers with adequate resources. In turn, IGP Egbetokun expressed appreciation for the collaboration with the Borno State Government, emphasizing the Police Force’s commitment to enhancing security operations and improving the living conditions of its personnel.
The joint efforts between the local government and the Nigerian Police signify a united front in addressing security challenges and ensuring the safety and well-being of Borno State’s residents.
