The Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA) says it has enrolled 500 Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF ) clients into the scheme.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Mr Mansur Dada said this an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Tuesday.
He said the survivors would benefit from free management and treatment services such as antenatal care and Cesarean Session (CS) for safe motherhood in health facilities across the 20 local government areas of the state.
The secretary said that survivors would be treated and managed under the government’s Vulnerable Healthcare Programme (VHP).
He said that a state wide contact tracing of survivors would be conducted using the National Fistula Center, Ningi, register for wider and effective coverage to stem the scourge.
According to him, the agency will enroll additional 200 sickle cell patients to enable them to access healthcare services at the Teaching Hospital, Azare in Katagum LGA.
.“We enrolled 200 sickle cell patients in 2022, they are being managed and treated at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi,” he said.
The agency, he said, enrolled 45,000 workers into the newly introduced Health Insurance Scheme drawn from 60 of the 90 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
He said the agency was awaiting release of fund by the state government to fast track implementation to enable the enrollees to access services under the scheme.
