The Bauchi state chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has stated that it has improved its membership drive in the last one year where it attracted new members from within and outside the state.
State chairman of the institute Kabir Ali Kobi stated this Thursday during the annual general meeting of the chapter held at Hazibal suites, Bauchi.
According to him, 15 members from Nigerian army university, Biu and university of Maiduguri, Borno state and federal university, Gashua in Yobe state were inducted into the institute recently.
He added that apart from the public sector, members were also attracted from private organizations noting that the aim of the registration is to promote professionalism in the practice of public relations in the country.
The chairman also disclosed that at the end of the annual general meeting, election would be conducted to select new officials of the chapter.
In his speech, the Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed who was the special guest of honour represented by his special adviser on media Mukhtar Gidado pledged that the state government would continue to support the activities of the institute especially in the area of training of its members.
