Mr Garba Husseini, Provost, Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Technology, Ningi, Bauchi State has dismissed as “fictitious,” alleged admission malpractice in the college.
Hussaini gave the clarifications while reacting to the allegations of admission malpractice in the college, on Friday in Ningi, Bauchi.
He dismissed as “false” reports by some section of the media that the college was involved in admission malpractice of students.
According to him, the allegations contained in articles on the online medium were nothing but “a means to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it.”
The Provost said, “the attention of the management of the institution has been drawn through two falsehood reports that admission malpractice, assault on school laws threatened academic quality at the College of Health Technology, Ningi,
“Chairman governing council deciding who gets admission dated 10th October, 2021.”
He said that the libelous publications were instigated by some aggrieved academic staff of the college, who before the constitution of the present governing council had a firm grip on the school when they served as directors.
Hussaini said the Council constituted a committee under the leadership of Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union (MAHWUN) in the state.
The committee was mandated to find out problems hindering the development of the college and proffer solutions to address it as well as block financial leakages.
The committee, he said, submitted its report to the council and established that some of the problems were caused due to the over-stayed of some officers in their offices.
He said the report indicated that the officers were engaged in illegal collection of unauthorised fees from parents and guardians of the students.
“They were also found to be engaged in illegal admission of students,” he said.
Hussaini added that as a result of that some parents petitioned the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
The Provost reiterated the commitment of the present governing council to restore the college to its former glory.
