The Bauchi State scholarship board says it will commence payment of N5,000 annual bursary to 5,000 additional indigent students studying across tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Malam Dahiru Adamu, spokesperson of the board, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Friday, in Bauchi.
Adamu said the beneficiaries were those under the batch (C) of the payment category, adding that they would start receiving the scholarship from next month.
According to him, about 1,144 students who were omitted from the list of the Batch A, due to some issues with their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN), and their Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration numbers, have been captured under Batch B, and would also receive the scholarship.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the government had previously paid about 5, 033 students the annual scholarship in the Batch A category.
