In continuation of the distribution of palliatives to the needy in parts of the state as a result of the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, The government of Bauchi state, on Friday shared foodstuffs to 6, 500 households in Alkaleri local government.
Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu who is the chairman of the palliative committee of the state flagged off the distribution at the local government secretariat.
Represented by the chief imam of Bauchi central mosque Malam Bala Baban Inna, the emir explained that the committee had so far covered 14 out of the 20 local governments of the state.
He promised that the gesture would be extended to the remaining six local governments shortly.
According to him, the most poor citizens were targetted to benefit from the gesture with a view to mitigating the economic predicament caused them by COVID 19 partial lockdown.
The emir who noted that the pandemic have affected many businesses nationwide urged the general public to continue to comply with the coronavirus regulations so that they could remain hale and hearty.
Also speaking, governor Bala Mohammed represented by the speaker Bauchi state house of assembly Abubakar Suleiman said the state government had taken serious measures to prevent the further spread of the virus saying the state in the past couple of months recorded very few cases.
He pledged that the government would come up with more empowerment and poverty alleviation programs to the downtrodden citizens.
