The Bauchi state fertilizer company has disclosed that it will produce 30, 000 metric tonnes of NPK fertilizer this year’s farming season.
Executive chairman of the company Alhaji Bappa Aliyu Misau who made the disclosure Wednesday in an interview with journalists said in the previous years, the company manufactured between 20, 000 to 25, 000 metric tonnes.
According to him, the 30, 000 metric tonnes if produced could suffice all farmers in the state and also be sold out to other states.
Misau said the company would procure raw materials in February this year adding that production would begin immediately after materials are available.
“We are the only operational blending plant in the entire north east. Therefore, our market covers the entire region. Last year Adamawa state government bought from us, Gombe state government in 2018, 2019 bought from us. We are selling to farmers in plateau, Kaduna, Nassarawa and even Benue state”. He noted.
The chairman who revealed that they use generator for 24 hours in the company enumerated lack of energy, manpower, availability of raw materials and labour as challenges of industries in Nigeria.
While saying that industries can generate revenues and provide employments to teeming youths, Misau called on government to provide conducive atmosphere for manufacturing companies in the nation to thrive.
